Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, National Certified Counselor
Payton is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a National Certified Counselor. Payton received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. She went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a licensure track in Professional School Counseling from Appalachian State University.
She has a passion for providing quality mental health services to children and adolescents struggling with mental health disorders and trauma. With a background and license in Professional School Counseling, Payton’s compassion for children and adolescents is rooted from experience and understanding. Payton believes therapy is a safe place for children to grow, learn, achieve goals and foster independence and sense of self.
Payton also has experience working with adults of all ages dealing with a variety of concerns including but not limited to mood disorders, anxiety disorders, relationships, grief, and trauma. Payton is dedicated to helping individuals address their mental health concerns in a safe space. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important elements in guiding this process, as such, clients are collaborators in their own treatment plan.
She utilizes an eclectic mix of modalities with a person-centered approach to meet each client’s unique needs and capabilities. Theoretical frameworks used in her practice might include play therapy techniques, mindfulness-based interventions, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and expressive arts techniques.
Payton is a Florida native who is new to Raleigh but looking forward to serving folks in the area and exploring all that the Triangle has to offer! In her free time, Payton loves to travel, play board games, and spend time with her family & little pup, Gizmo.
