Melinda Brown, MD
Doctor of Medicine
Melinda graduated from Yale University with a BS in Biology and received her MD from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her Psychiatry residency at UNC Chapel Hill. She then worked in several Mental Health Centers and was the Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatry at Person Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed doing medication management but was most excited about the long-lasting gains that clients could achieve through supportive and evidence-based psychotherapies. Therefore, she now wants to use her psychotherapeutic skills to provide empathetic and effective counseling.
Melinda strives to provide quality care in a safe, respectful and compassionate environment where she and clients can work collaboratively to promote healing and growth. She takes a holistic approach and utilizes a variety of interventions tailored for each individual and their specific needs.
Her areas of work include clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-care and substance use disorders. Outside of work she enjoys gardening, creating art, reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
