Triangle Counseling Agency provides mental health and behavioral health counseling services for both children and adults.  We work with individuals, groups and families specializing in highly effective confidential treatment for a wide range of mental health and behavioral health challenges.

Triangle Counseling Agency is an approved provider with both Blue Cross Blue Shield and Alliance Behavioral Healthcare.


All therapists are licensed in the state of North Carolina.  For client convenience, services are provided both in home and at our office. We are currently providing Tele-therapy (audio and visual computer-web based) counseling services.

Triangle Counseling Agency collaborates with local Universities and resources including North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina to help foster professional development.

Qualified Supervisor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor


Troy moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1998 after acquiring his Master of Arts degree in Human Development and Counseling at Bradley University. As the Founder of Triangle Counseling Agency and a Qualified Supervisor/Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Troy has over 15 years of experience working with adults and children. Troy has a certificate in Wilderness Therapy for Mental Health Professionals (Outward Bound) and incorporates an array of counseling techniques ranging from Mindfulness strategies to Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). Troy teams up with his German Shepherd co-therapist to bring a unique approach to working with adolescents and children who may benefit from Animal Assisted Therapy techniques. His counseling style focuses on listening and understanding a person's needs and then helping them strengthen four areas of functioning: physical, emotional, spiritual, and vocational/academic. Using evidence-based counseling theories, Troy provides a safe, supportive, caring and confidential environment that helps individuals explore, establish, and maintain positive social connections that promote self-dignity and self-actualization. Troy enjoys several entrepreneurial projects that range from brokering real estate to developing and producing continuing education for the mental health industry. He is a father, business owner, and outdoorsman who especially likes boating, music, motocrossing and playing tennis. Troy describes himself as a "lover-of-life who appreciates the opportunity to help others succeed." 


Licensed Professional Counselor


Tedi Newman has over 12 years experience working with families and youth struggling with behavioral health issues. For many years, Tedi worked in a non-profit mental health agency working with underinsured and uninsured clients. Tedi has garnered experience working as an Outpatient Therapist, School Based Therapist and Foster Care Clinical Supervisor. She also worked with domestic violence survivors at Interact in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Along with providing services at Triangle Counseling Agency, Tedi has a private practice in downtown Apex and specializes in trauma, grief, animal assisted therapy and child advocacy. She is a Tennessee native but has called the Triangle home since 2001. For Tedi, it is a true joy to witness clients on their path to mental wellness and recovery.


Licensed Clinical Social Worker

George is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of North Carolina (LCSW). George works with children, young adults, individuals and couples using cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and the solution focused approach. George has extensive experience in a variety of settings working with diverse populations providing both long-term and brief interventions.  George has a passion to help others become successful.  It is his way of giving back to all those who poured into his life and assisted him in becoming the leader he is today.  George is married and has two beautiful children. He and his family reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.


Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

Natalie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a National Certified Counselor. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Natalie completed her clinical hours at Triangle Counseling Agency and now works there full-time. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Natalie strives to help clients build upon their current strengths while gaining tools to be successful in all areas of life through personalized goals. She utilizes evidenced-based therapy, including but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, while stemming from an eclectic person-centered approach to meet the client's specific goals and needs. Natalie includes art therapy in her interventions with clients and loves utilizing play therapy with children. When she is not helping clients, she loves to paint, exercise, be outside, ride her bike and spend time with family. 


Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Kerry Paksoy holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. He has a varied counseling background and training in crisis/detox, college, and EAP settings. In addition to working for Josh's Hope Foundation, Kerry also works in employee assistance and maintains a private practice working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. His clinical perspective includes Solution Focused Brief Counseling as well as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Theory. Kerry's past work includes providing job training, coaching, and independent living skills to individuals on the Autism Spectrum, as well as Conflict Resolution at a local mediation center.


Licensed Professional Counselor


Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She has been working as a mental health professional since 2011. She has experience working with a variety of clients from different age groups, backgrounds and diagnoses. Most recently, she has garnered experience counseling children, adolescents, and adults on an outpatient basis. She utilizes multiple modalities based on her clients’ individual needs which includes CBT, DBT and trauma focused therapy.  Sarah also has experience working with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, PTSD and autism spectrum disorders.


Licensed Professional Counselor


Dr. Angeline Woodson is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in individual, couples and family therapy.  Dr. Woodson has over 20 years experience as a mental health therapist specializing in diversity and multicultural counseling. She is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. She has vast experience in working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Woodson has provided in-home and office based counseling.  She has aided clients in addressing issues with addictions, adult survivors of dysfunction, grief and bereavement issues, parenting issues, self-esteem issues, transitional issues, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, couples issues and domestic violence. Using a number of evidence-based theories including motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and a variety of play therapies, Dr. Woodson helps her clients take positive steps towards achieving their goals. Dr. Woodson is a Navy veteran as well as the spouse of a retired Marine. She has a host of experience working with military personnel and their families.

Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. She has experience working with adults and chronically ill individuals and families. She uses multiple interventions to help clients achieve their goals. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Problem Solving Therapy. She has experience helping clients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive symptoms and PTSD. She utilizes the client centered approach and tailors her skill set to meet each clients needs. 


Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate

Kaity earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). Her therapeutic approach is warm, encouraging, practical, and collaborative. She strives to elicit clients’ strengths and empower individuals to reach their goals. Kaity is committed to acknowledging and supporting all aspects of identity her clients feel are important including culture, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. She practices with sensitivity towards individual and community trauma and is open to exploring impacts of racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression with clients. Kaity works with people of all ages and is especially passionate about supporting chronically or terminally ill people and their caregivers and families. She has worked with individuals facing cancer, grief, bereavement, big changes or life transitions, stress and anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, self-criticism, and low self-esteem. To best tailor the therapeutic experience for each individual, Kaity draws from a variety of methods including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and mindfulness and self-compassion. Kaity’s favorite ways to spend her free time are connecting with family and friends, painting, reading, and hiking in the mountains with her spouse and their rescue pup.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate


Jennifer is passionate about helping individuals, couples and families overcome and recover from anxiety, depression, fears, and relationship issues. Jennifer has worked with people addressing substance abuse, emotional abuse, codependency and addiction recovery. Jennifer utilizes a variety of evidence based treatments including but not limited to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Her focus is to assist and empower her clients to achieve a sense of balance, peace, and calm.  Prior to becoming a therapist, Jennifer worked in Human Resources and Finance in the private sector for 15 years and enjoys assisting others develop and achieve vocational goals, life goals and stress management goals.  Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys hiking, photography, meditation and spending time with friends and family.

Kathy has worked in the field of mental health as a Licensed Professional Counselor for 19 years providing therapy in varying settings for adolescents and adults. She utilizes evidence-based therapy to assess and treat clients who seek to overcome personal obstacles and make positive life changes in a non-judgmental, genuine and empathic setting.


Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate

Caroline Gregory is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate. She is board certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Sociology minor. She obtained a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. Caroline provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of work include but are not limited to those experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, communication issues, bullying, low self-esteem, self-criticism, impulsivity, self-harm, addiction, and substance use disorders. Her theoretical approach is integrative and dynamic, based on the individuals needs and interests which include evidence-based therapies. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-focused, Mindfulness-based, Motivational Interviewing, Christian Counseling, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy utilizing a collaborative, genuine, creative, and at times humorous therapeutic style. Caroline strives to offer a warm, encouraging, nonjudgmental space where clients can be themselves. When she’s not in the office, Caroline is spending time with her German Shorthaired Pointer Lola, tending to her plants, traveling, and going to the beach.

Licensed Professional Counselor

Angela has worked as a school counselor for the past 16 years. While working in Durham, Angela was a school counselor for a program serving students suffering from severe mental health and emotional needs. She has worked as a social worker aiding juvenile offenders. Angela received her license as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2004. She is a single mother to her son and describes him as an amazing individual who teaches her life lessons on a daily basis.

Samantha is currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and is thrilled to join you on your journey. She graduated with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Western Kentucky University. Samantha specializes in working with children and teens through use of play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. She also works with couples and families to improve communication and interpersonal effectiveness. Using evidenced-based, non-judgmental practices, she hopes to assist her clients in learning more about themselves and making positive change in their lives. When out of the office, Samantha enjoys a good fantasy TV show and pets every dog she meets.


Licensed Professional Counselor

Valerie has experience working with adolescents, disabled veterans, homeless individuals and families, developmentally disabled adults, individuals, couples, teens, children and families of trauma.  She has provided treatment in group home settings, office and home based settings, and homeless shelters.  She is a certified Trauma Specialist and has received training with gambling addictions, Transactional Analysis Re-decision therapy and is a certified Sexual Offender Treatment and Assessment provider.  Valerie also has expertise with grief and loss, and family counseling.  Valerie utilizes a number of evidenced-based practices and when appropriate, looks to help individuals resolve pain from childhood trauma.  She works to create positive change as it relates to negative scripts, sexual trauma, cutting, emotional/physical abuse and neglect.  Valerie has garnered experience helping individuals resolve hopelessness, anger, fear, and anxiety.  She works with individuals helping them improve parent-child relational issues, bullying, depression, loss and low self-esteem.  Valerie's work is interactive and collaborative.  She works with individuals through persistent negative patterns and beliefs to achieve understanding and positive change.  As a fun note, Valerie appeared on both Fatal Attraction and Snapped 2016.


Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate

Kyle Flannelly, MSW, LCSWA, a Triangle native, graduated from UNC - Chapel Hill with a BA in Psychology in 2013, followed by a Master’s in Social Work in 2018. Prior to joining Triangle Counseling Agency, Kyle worked in senior communities and with agencies dedicated to providing mental healthcare to older adults. Kyle has training in cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and dynamic techniques, and specializes in addressing concerns associated with aging, both with individuals and families, LGBTQ issues, and anxiety disorders. Kyle loves being in the kitchen and searching for new recipes, traveling, and spending time with his family and two dogs.


Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Kristi is a people person and has worked toward understanding people and empowering them to achieve their personal goals. Helping adolescents find their true selves beyond anxiety and depression is a passion for Kristi, as is assisting teens with their social skill development in a world that has replaced face to face human interaction with screens. Her approach to counseling is tailored to each individual client. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a mode of treatment originally designed to treat trauma but has now been found to be effective for most mental health issues. Helping clients find peace, happiness, and reaching their goals is her focus. She uses a variety of resources including laughter, mindfulness, education, and understanding. Kristi also has a long work history in human resources and recruitment, specializing in recruiting nurses and medical staff. She even made it into some nursing magazines and spoke at graduation for Mercy School of Nursing. After 16 years in that role, she decided to pursue her original desire to work in the mental health field and completed her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2014. During her educational program, Kristi completed her internship and practicum in a day treatment program for at-risk youth. During her time working with day treatment clients, Kristi gained invaluable experience working with children with an array of mental health issues from Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Depression, to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While Kristi has also worked in outpatient settings with adults, adolescents, and children, she has found that she most loves to work primarily with adolescents ages 12+, families, and young adults. Kristi has been married for over 20 years to her college sweetheart and is the proud parent of a teen girl.  Kristi enjoys spending time with her family, friends and two dogs. She also enjoys reading and traveling.

George is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Prior to becoming a LCSW, he worked many years in mental health as a Program Administrator. He received his MSW from the University of Southern California. George is compassionate and believes in working collaboratively with supporting individuals and families taking a strengths-base, client-centered, and integrative approach to therapy. He utilizes evidence-based therapies using an eclectic approach drawing from a number of perspectives based on the individual’s needs and interests which include, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Trauma Focus, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Solution Focused Therapy and Christian Counseling. George’s goals are to create an empathic, open, understanding, and judgement free enviroment for immediate and lasting change.
